Melmoth

25 Years of Electro / Darkwave

Melmoth presents a fusion of diverse musical elements, combining dark and delicate vocal melodies over electronic sequences and stylized orchestral arrangements. The concept of the group and the lyrical work are influenced by classical literature and cult movies which together with the music places the listener in a past with a modern sound.

Melmoth started in 1998 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The band that took its name from the Gothic novel from 1820 ‘Melmoth the Wanderer’ by Irish playwright, novelist and clergyman Charles Maturin. The main character is a scholar who sold his soul to the devil in exchange for 150 extra years of life, and searches the world for someone who will take over the pact for him. Oscar Wilde, during his travels after release from prison, called himself Sebastian Melmoth, deriving this pseudonym from the title character in his great-uncle's novel.

Lukotyk Records will be releasing Melmoth's second album 'Ars In Itinere' for the end of 2024. This was a a very tough album to produce that took lots of years since it will finally see the light. The band moved a little bit to a more electro sound in comparison with the first album and it is still moving on that direction.
